Chalk is a soft, fine-grained, white or coloured sedimentary rock composed primarily of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) or gypsum. It is widely known and used in various applications, but one of its most common uses is for writing or drawing on chalkboards. Chalk is a very cost-effective tool for writing, drawing, and marking various surfaces. While traditional chalk is still widely used, modern alternatives like whiteboard markers/permanent markers have replaced them. Nonetheless, chalk continues to have a place in various construction applications, artistic and sports activities.
